Fareham Borough Council is pleased to commemorate the official start of construction on Eaton’s cutting-edge manufacturing facility at Daedalus, following a celebratory event held here at Fareham Innovation Centre in our conferencing room, The Bridge.
Eaton, a global leader in aircraft components, began building a 176,000 sq ft Grade A facility at Daedalus, Fareham. The move from Abbey Works signals major investment in Fareham’s aerospace sector and strengthens long-term growth in advanced manufacturing. The event took place in The Bridge, Fareham Innovation Centre’s conferencing space, which seats up to 120 guests, regularly supporting professional gatherings, networking events, and regional innovation-focused celebrations. Eaton and Fareham Borough Council representatives enjoyed a fantastic view of the project site from our rooftop terrace overlooking Daedalus. The elevated vantage point offered a clear perspective of the development area, highlighting the scale and significance of the new facility.
BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ rating
The new facility, developed by RLAM and Graftongate, will be leased to Eaton and built to top environmental standards. It will meet BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ ratings, reflecting Eaton’s commitment to sustainability and high-performance industrial development. This move reinforces Eaton’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and long-term growth in the UK.
Councillor Simon Martin, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Eaton to Daedalus. Today’s groundbreaking marks a major milestone not only for the company but for Fareham’s economic future. Eaton’s investment reinforces Daedalus as a centre of excellence for advanced manufacturing and innovation, and we look forward to seeing the new facility take shape.”
Matt Price, General Manager of Eaton’s Fuel Systems Business Unit, added:
“This was a landmark day for Eaton. The new facility represents a significant investment in our Fuel Systems business, ensuring we retain our market-leading position through cutting-edge technology and production systems. It reflects our commitment to our employees, customers, the local community, and the wider UK manufacturing base.”Eaton’s relocation secures its long-term presence in Fareham, where the company has operated for decades and remains widely recognized. Locals often pass Eaton’s former site during daily commutes through Fareham’s busy transport routes, reinforcing its visibility and community connection. The move will create hundreds of new jobs at Daedalus, strengthening Fareham’s role in aerospace and advanced manufacturing growth. Eaton’s new facility includes advanced manufacturing space, modern offices, and amenities that support employee wellbeing, comfort, and workplace productivity. Staff will enjoy breakout areas, wellness rooms, and a rooftop terrace designed to promote relaxation and a positive work environment. Fareham Borough Council worked closely with Eaton and its development team to support the relocation and ensure strategic alignment. The move aligns with the Fareham Local Plan and supports the goals of the Solent Enterprise Zone for regional growth.
